BESS JACQUES

Bess Jacques is a Maine-based pianist, vocalist, and songwriter whose music blends jazz, singer-songwriter, and pop influences with timeless American traditions. Drawing inspiration from the Great American Songbook, rhythm and blues, and soul, she creates a sound that is both fresh and nostalgic, performing both as a solo artist and as leader of Bess Jacques & The Strays.

Her debut album, Anthems for Lily Briscoe (2025), showcases her distinctive songwriting voice and artistic depth. Originally trained in mathematics and computer science, Bess left that field in 2012 to pursue music full-time. Since returning to her hometown of Westbrook, Maine, she has become a familiar presence on Southern Maine stages, earning a reputation for her warmth, creativity, and engaging performances.
